Okay... Before you all hunt me down through my IP address and stab me, please know that I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I also love pretty much everything that Pegg/Frost/Wright have ever even sneezed on. So, please don't take the things I'm about to say as meaning that I think they are shit/should die/will never watch anything from them again. Because that is just not the case.

That being said, I humbly present my thoughts on The World's End:

I enjoyed it. There... I got that out of the way. Being who I am, I came out feeling that I really knew where the film was coming from, that they were making a valid point about getting older and that we don't have as much impact on people's lives as we would like to think. Until I thought about it a bit more... Then some bits started to unravel for me.

From this point onwards please do not read if you have not seen the film as I'm going to start from the epilogue and work backwards.

The finale of the film shows us...

The irony of the situation has not escaped me, I promise you... If you are reading this, it is most likely as a result of the very thing I am trying to stop. For the last 20 years (yes the internet has been around that long) I have, for some reason, decided that it is my mission to try and keep people safe in this cybernetic world we all now inhabit.

Back in the early nineties it was actually a pretty easy job as most people online at that time were reasonably tech savvy and could spot a hoax when it appeared.

Please don't get me wrong. I don't mean to infer that people who use the internet now are not tech savvy, but that they do, in fact, share something with even the earliest of adopters. The history of spam can be traced back to it's first appearance in Python scripts... And yes, I mean Monty Python, not the programming language. I DON'T LIKE SPAM is a phrase that everyone should remember. Spam is, at its basest form, unsolicited messages. It grew from that to...

It's been a while again. But I have reasons, really, I do.

Aside from being so awesome at my job that I now get to be a senior developer, I'm also in the middle of three modules for my degree. As if that wasn't enough, I've been busily working on my new album, writing some new scripts and tidying up The Wonky Spanner. If you've been keeping up with NerdVsWorld you'll also know that we've been very busy getting guests on the show. It's been an absolute blast so far chatting with people either out in the world or in the studio and I'm massively excited to see who we can get on the show from here.

We've got a few fun bits and bobs coming up, we're finally getting round to filming an afternoon of us messing around with a Makey Makey and some other stuff too.

My apologies once again for not blogging more, but I hope you can understand with everything that's going on at the moment.

We talk about invaders from mars, air guitar championships, forthcoming books, Freddie Mercury and the return of a certain time travelling vegetable amongst other things.

Apologies for the weird digital distortion from about 22 minutes in... No clue where it came from and I couldn't get rid of it in the edit without destroying the content. So I hope it doesn't annoy you too much.

Please do go and check out Far Fetched Books at http://www.farfetchedbooks.com/ and pop by Robert's facebook page https://www.facebook.com/robertrankin and give him a 'Like'.

This week, Brendan and Spindles are joined in the studio by Cody in Ady's absence.

Things up for debate this week include what's been cancelled and renewed in TV land, neural interfaces, more reactions to more Crow remake news plus the usual mixed bag of other stuff. I will confess that I got my actresses mixed up, it was not Christina Ricci who appeared in a Crow sequel, it was, in fact, Kirsten Dunst. So, my apologies in advance.

Also, we interview ourselves for Kierygeek about fandoms and what makes us do what we do. You can find Kierygeeks's youtube channel at: http://www.youtube.com/user/kierygeek.
