This list of films is compiled from responses to the thread on our facebook page, plus those suggested by guests on our NerdVsWorld show.

Basically we had to suggest 5 films off the top of our heads that we thought everyone needed to see.

I've removed any duplicates but added the number of times each one has been voted for.

I'll be updating it as and when new films are added.

Please feel free to add your own 5 films in the comments at the bottom and I'll add them to the list

Alien 5
Blade Runner 4
Fight Club 3
The Empire Strikes Back 3
Akira 2
Back to the Future ...

After a whole day in bed variously sleeping and hacking up chunks of lung, I'm almost feeling human enough to give a brief account of our weekend away at the Sci-Fi Weekender 4.

For those of you who have never heard of, or experienced it, the SFW takes over a holiday camp in North Wales for a weekend, fills it with around 4000 rabid sci-fi fans and puts on a show of authors, actors, musicians, comedians and much more for their entertainment. We had our first experience of it last year when a couple of our friends won tickets and invited us along. Despite the run-down Pontin's apartments, poisonous canteen and the 10 hour journey home due to our car breaking down in the Apocalyptic Blizzard of January 2012, we decided to go along again this year and take our daughter along with us.

The journey there was a trek through the mountains of Middle Earth complete with frozen waterfalls, free range sheep and small...

Yes... I promised didn't I?

The main reason for tonight's post is that i'm testing out a new blogging app for Android. I've been trying without success to use Google's official blogger app but it's broken. It crashes every time I click the new post button. So I'm trying out Blogaway, which seems to be working fine so far.

Well the new NerdVsWorld podcasts seem to be going well...  We're getting reasonable amount of hits per episode so thanks to all those who tune in to listen to our nerdy ramblings. Without you there would literally be no show. If you've not had a listen yet then head over to the wonkycasts section of and give it a try.

The Sci-Fi Weekender is less than a month away now and all the fabric just arrived for our costumes. Yay! Now to make the damn things. Pictures soon.

That's enough for now.... on with more Person of Interest.

Yes, I know... I've been bad... Really bad... This poor little blog has been sitting here patiently waiting for my input for over a year now. And I ignored it... It got so lonely that it wandered off around the internet all on its own and I've spent months trying to track it down. But I managed to coax it back with promises of slightly more than infrequent posts.

Rather than do a huge monolithic post of what I've been up to I'll just say that a lot of stuff has changed: job, house, courses, stuff, blah, etc etc etc...

So, Last year we made a stab at doing a podcast... We turned out a couple of episodes of Si and Ady's Eclectic Technicolour Podcast of Awesome which were great fun to make but we only managed to do three before all sorts of stuff got in the way of us doing more. However we have recently merged what we were doing with Brendan from NerdVsWorld and launched a new podcast a couple of weeks ago. You can check out the episodes on the wonky spanner site: ...

It's been a little while since my last blog entry and even longer since my last proper rant, so I figure I ought to make this one really count...  ;)

Today, 22nd August, 2012, Sony has announced that they are going to close down the SCEE Studio in Liverpool.

For those of you who don't know what relavence that studio has, let me take you on a little trip back to the days of the old skool gamers - and no, I mean BEFORE Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario the fat, tripping, plumber.

Once upon a time, in little old Englandshire, in the murky depths of musty bedrooms, workshops and secret man-caves, there were a selection of starry-eyed British programmers whose cunning and deviousness was second only to that of the Mad Bacon God of Omicron 4, but considerably more numerous.  These wild and slightly unhinged beings vaunted their...
